Department Of Home Affairs East London, East London is a city on the southeast coast of South Africa in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality of the Eastern Cape province. The city lies on the Indian Ocean coast, largely between the Buffalo River and the Nahoon River, and hosts the country’s only river port. East London today has a population of over 267,000 with over 755,000 in the metropolitan area.

We are a government/public organisation. We determine and confirm the status of persons by providing enabling documents in the interest of promoting and protecting the national integrity. This includes, but is not limited to, registration of births, deaths, provision of identity documentation and passports. Our national hotline is 0800 601 190. At our branch we offer civic and immigration services. We are open from 07:30 to 16:00, Monday to Friday and from 08:00 to 13:00 on Saturdays. We charge a fee for some of our services.
