ABOUT THE BURSAR

Foskor was founded in 1951 by the Industrial Development Corporation. Today Foskor are the leaders in Phosphate production for the agricultural sector in South Africa.
The Foskor bursary scheme was initiated to help talented and deserving Engineering students to further their studies. The amount of bursaries awarded each year depends on the operational needs of Foskor.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

Bursaries will be awarded within the following fields of study:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Instrumentation Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering

The bursary will cover the following study expenses: registration fees, tuition fees and prescribed materials.
It is important that students possess the following skills and attributes for a successful career in Engineering:

  • Able to work in a team
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Problem solving skills
  • Decision making skills
  • People management skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Physically fit
  • Keep up to date with developments in industry
  • Tenacity

Bursary recipients will be required to work for Foskor during university holidays, they will also be required to work back the bursary upon graduation.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:

  • South African citizen
  • Currently in Matric/ completed Matric
  • Obtained a minimum average of 60% for Science and Mathematics (Higher Grade) in Matric
  • Currently studying or intend on studying full-time in one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Currently studying or intend on studying at a university within South Africa
  • Able to work under pressure

Please include the following items in your application email:

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Curriculum Vitae (maximum 1 page, including contact details)
  • Proof of registration at a tertiary institution in South Africa, also stating the field of study (on tertiary institution letterhead)
