GIBB Bursaries Available
Candidates interested in obtaining a bursary from this company must be studying at a recognized Institute of Higher Learning within one of the below-mentioned fields of Engineering.
Fields of study available:
- Railway
- Civil
- Roads
- Electrical
Successful candidates who receive a bursary from GIBB will have the following covered by the bursary:
- Full cost of tuition
- All required books and even stationary
- Accommodation costs only where relevant
- Travel costs only where relevant
Candidates will also have the benefit of vacation employment and may be asked to join the company upon completion of their studies. This will, however, depend on the candidate’s success and the need within the company at the time.
GIBB Bursary Requirements
Candidates who intend to apply for a bursary with GIBB must meet all the requirements set by the company. Each successful bursary awarded will be dependable on the signing of an obligatory employment term after completion of studies, along with compulsory vacation work. These will be done at any of the company’s offices.
Requirements for candidates are as follow:
- Applicants must be a South African citizen
- Applicants must be studying within one of the fields mentioned towards a Masters, a Degree or an Honors
- Applicants must hold a valid ID document
- Applicants must excel within their field of Engineering
Along with their application candidates must submit the following certified documentation:
- Copy of ID document
- Full and up to date Curriculum Vitae
- Valid contact details
- Full academic results, including the current year’s, results
GIBB Bursary Application
GIBB bursaries applications online are made available yearly via their website. Individuals who are interested in applying within one of their fields may do so when the company has bursaries available within that field. However, applicants must also meet all requirements in order to apply. Candidates can find the company’s open bursaries via their ‘Careers’ tab.
To apply candidates must firstly download the application form. This form will be on this page under the instructions area. Candidates are advised to complete the form in their own handwriting and also sign the form. Ensure all required documentation is certified and accompany your application.
Applications that are faxed will not be looked at, thus, candidates have to either use post or e-mail to submit applications.

Candidates who apply that have not yet received their final academic results may submit their application but should also mention that they will send their results soon. Candidates doing so must then not forget to send these results through as soon as they receive them.
GIBB Bursaries: Closing Date
The closing date for bursaries provided by GIBB is usually the end of August each year. These dates may vary slightly, depending on the need within the company each year.
Candidates are reminded to include all relevant certified documentation and get their applications in before the closing date. This is vital as late applications will not be considered. This also goes for applications that are not signed, missing documentation or not completed in full.
