The  Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT) provides leadership to the Western Cape Economy. It also acts as a catalyst for the transformation of the economy and responds to the challenges and opportunities of its economic citizens, in order to support the government’s goal of creation of opportunities for businesses and citizens to grow the economy and employment.

The department is the critical link between communities, business and government. It not only implements projects and programmes, but also influences economic growth, development and inclusion, a key strategic objective of the Western Cape Government.
