Department Of Basic Education Examination Guidelines, It is essential to emphasise that Examination Guidelines are not a substitute for the CAPS, as they merely provide information regarding the final NSC examination and where necessary clarifies the scope and depth of the content to be assessed. It is therefore recommended that each guideline always be used in conjunction with the CAPS for each subject.
Examination Guidelines are available in all subjects except for Electrical Technology and Civil Technology where these guidelines are not required. Educators for these two subjects are required to refer to Section 4 of the CAPS applicable to their respective subjects for details regarding the assessment of these subjects.
