WBHO Bursaries – 2024
Do you love buildings, road works and all things in the construction industry?
South Africa has a great need of skilled trades’ workers. WBHO is one of five corporations that have undertaken to aid in the development of such scarce skills. Candidates who are interested in furthering their career within the construction industry, are invited to apply. WBHO is taking an open-minded approach, they seek talented candidates with a desire to become successful in life.
Candidates will have the opportunity to study, as well as gain practical skills. WBHO is aiming to aid in developing sustainable skills sets. Their bursaries will provide successful candidates with a qualification, and to some even a permanent position within the company. This company has a long legacy, as it can be followed back to the 1970’s. They are known to be one of the largest construction companies within the whole of Southern Africa. They work in areas such as Civil Engineering, Earthworks, Building Construction, and Roads.
They aim to become a worldwide operations giant in the construction sector. They hold a great reputation for delivering excellence, the highest quality plus reliability, where ever they go. The company not only offers bursaries but furthermore also provides in-service or learner-ship training.

WBHO Bursaries Available
The company has the following fields of study available for successful candidates:
- Building Science
- Quality Surveying
- Civil Engineering
- Construction Management
These can all be taken in the following degrees:
- BEng
- BSc
- ND
- BTech
Bursary Requirements
Candidates who wish to apply for any of the above-mentioned bursary fields, must comply with the following requirements, and also provide all documentation, certified.
Candidates must:
- Be a South African Citizen
- Must have a valid ID document
- Must have an average of 60% academically
- Must be a full-time student
Candidates that make the short-list will be contacted for an interview, or if the company requires any additional information. Successful candidates must be willing to join the company for vacation work, in between semesters. The company also has a one-week compulsory training for candidates in their bursary program. This week will be during June or July, but candidates will be informed prior to the date. If any of their subjects is failed, candidates must undertake to re-write them at own cost.
Candidates must enquire about Institutes available through this bursary before applying to such an Institute, as the company only works with a selection.
Candidates are urged to also supply their entire academic records, Curriculum Vitae, a covering letter including their prospects for their future, their hobbies, and interests, along with their thoughts on why they feel they are ideal for such a bursary.
Bursary Application
Online application process for bursaries can be found on their WEBPAGE. Candidates can click on the tab – Bursary, In-service, and Vacation Work Process and Application. The download the form, complete it fully, sign it and submit to: bursaryapplications@wbho.co.za.
Candidates will be asked to commit to a working period with the company, this will be for an equal duration as that of their bursary period. This period will begin upon completion of their studies.
Closing Date
Closing date for these bursaries vary yearly, depending on the need as it arises within the company. Bursaries are usually made available from the middle of the year and closing dates may be during August, September, and November.
Candidates can apply for a bursary, vacation work and more, any year of study. Work will be provided to candidates who have excelled during their study, as long as the company has an opening for their desired skill set.
